Courchevel

France

The most glamorous ski resort in Europe combines impeccable service on the slopes with five-star hotels, starred restaurants, designer shops and renowned spas. Along with Méribel and Val Thorens, Courchevel is part of the largest ski area in the world. Known as Le Trois Vallées, this region excels in off-piste skiing while being a paradise for those who prefer to stay within the circuits: the three valleys are connected by 162 lifts and 600 km of slopes.

Illuminated by Christmas lights that stay on throughout the season, its center is made up of narrow streets, where horse-drawn carriages pass and where each wooden chalet hides an exquisite establishment behind its rustic facade.

Amid so many superlatives and impeccable services, it’s easy to understand why Courchevel remains the favorite resort of the international jet-set.

GASTRONOMY

In the village: Excellence and variety define the gastronomy of Courchevel, which has more than 60 restaurants. Skiers find gourmet options for lunch even in the middle of the slopes. There is also good diversity among those starred by the Michelin Guide: from the French classics at Le Chabichou, through the reinterpretations of traditional recipes at Le 1947 to the creative cuisine at Le Montgomerie. On the mountain: Skiers find gourmet options for lunch even in the middle of the slopes. Panoramic views add to the gastronomy at Cap Horn, which has several titles of wines and dishes with vegetarian options, at Chalet de Pierres, with its unmissable fondues and raclettes, and at La Cave Deux Creux, which has an Asian influence.

WHAT TO DO BEYOND THE SKIING

Snowmobile and fat bike rides are among the options for activities in the snow. Outside, there is a skating rink, go bowling or relax in one of the excellent spas in Courchevel. Among them, the beauté centers signed by prestigious brands, such as Spa by Guerlain and Spa Lana by Clarins, stand out.

ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

In the Villages des Enfants, children learn to ski safely, in addition to taking part in supervised activities and games. There are also several themed areas spread across the tracks, such as the Indian Village and the Family Park. For those who want to vary the schedule, Aquamotion brings together waterslides, heated pools and even a pool with waves, where the little ones can surf. Les Chalets du Forum has ice skating and indoor climbing.

SHOPPING

The resort is one of the best shopping destinations in the Alps. You can shop even with ski boots on your feet - Moncler has a concept store right on the Verdons piste. Brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermés and Prada are gathered in the village of Courchevel 1850, in a setting full of charm. In addition to designer stores, there are jewelry and multi-brand stores.

NIGHT LIFE

The action starts with the après-ski at Le Folie Douce, a restaurant on the mountain that is the scene of very lively parties, and ends at La Mangeoire, where people go to spend the night listening to DJs. But there are also options for those who prefer something more relaxed: Le P’tit Drink, for example, serves great drinks in an authentic and elegant atmosphere.
